About Hypnotherapy

Can you remember reading three pages of a book and suddenly realising that you’ve been in a bit of a dream and you’ve not actually taken any of the written print in?

Or have you driven your car along a familiar route when you realise that you weren’t aware of the last two minutes of the journey?

These are examples of naturally occurring ‘trance’.  During our sessions, with the help of some guided relaxation, you can reach this same level of relaxation which aids the hypnotic process.  You are awake throughout and remain in complete control.  It is a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience!

When you are in this state of trance, your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions and will accept directions to help you make the changes you wish.

As a client, it is so important that you want the change to happen and are willing to undertake a course of sessions.

Contrary to what some people believe, hypnotherapy is not something that happens to you.  I will work with you to help you bring about the positive changes in your life.

What Is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a type of talking therapy.  It combines the use of psychotherapy with hypnosis. In sessions we use the science of how our brain works, some careful questioning and guided relaxation to focus on thoughts and suggestions that might be useful.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern approach which helps people make positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. We spend our sessions focussing on what the client wants to achieve - the solution, rather than the problem that prompted them to seek help in the first place.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is quite different as it doesn’t require the therapist to spend lots of time looking into a person’s past - this is not necessary.  We help the client create plans by planning small steps to get them to where they want to be.

How Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Can Help You

We do not focus on the past in our sessions, instead I will ask you to consider your ‘ideal future’ picture.

I will ask you solution-orientated questions such as: “What would be better if your issue had improved?” or “What would have changed?”. This approach means your possible solutions become more obvious and you have a goal to work towards.

Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety.  This is done very easily through relaxation and visualisation, allowing you to focus on the positive aspects of your life, in turn encouraging a shift in mindset and perspective.

Session Prices

Initial Consultations are £35, last up to one hour, and include a free relaxation download.

What Does A Session Look Like?

Each session starts with a discussion about what’s been good about your week.

The more positive experiences you recall, the easier it is for you to kick your left prefrontal cortex into gear!

We then go over an explanation of how your brain works and why you feel the way you do.

After our brain discussion, I ask you some questions about how you would like to be feeling and help you make a plan to take small steps to achieving your goals.

We finish with 25 minutes of ‘trance’, which you are sure to look forward to and enjoy.  Sessions generally last 50 minutes.

We usually recommend a course of 8-12 sessions for general therapy.
